Heaven, Wait a Bit Longer

By Cody Triplett

Untrained wedding head
decides to take a walk.
Out into the night’s air,
leaned over a handrail.
Head stares into a parking lot meadow,
thinks.
Sure of himself,
of his ability to have fingers
plugging all the leaks.
Ironed old days,
gloried out.
Old factory pokes into the sky.
He’s been mild lately,
he’s accepted it
as an admirable way.
Lonely, he isn’t.
Adrift, perhaps.
Hurried tranquility,
arms lay out of the window
of mom’s blue minivan.
Heaven, wait a bit longer.
The head walks back up the path,  and
stops to spy on a cathedral,  nestled
between water towers in the fore.
