The Lines In My Palm

By Ariyo Ahmad

I traced the longitudinal lines in my palm / with a streak from a scattered broom / creating a sensational scene / in my body and heart / I was actually trying to leave my country / into another country that visited in my dream / at the end of the map on my palm / I see a sudden sporadic fall / that tells me man can’t be wiser than his destiny / wherever the ship of our destiny would sail us / may the lines in our palm not wage war against us like a burning branches in my heart

I don’t know who crafted / this rays of moonshine on my palm / like a footprint in the heart of a desert / and a distinct dent on the face of a mountain / I ended up saying the one who breathes life to ocean, cloud and mountain / must be costumed in the regalia of handsomeness and greatness

I tried reading the map / of my destiny on my palm like a seer / a deep darkness obstruct / from seeing the lines plotted in my palm at that irksome hour / I joined my hand side by side / I saw a cup of glory / which unveils the twines blocking / from sight seeing my destiny / a curve of glory that ravels / hidden greatness lives in our palm
