Up

By Oliver Savage

A ripple in the fabric of the cosmos
The vast expanse of elements, glimmering swirls and plumes of light
Stretch
And stretch
Boundless regions populate the wasteland
Visible
Subluminal
This world is no world at all
A puzzle piece of patchwork
Light years woven into the fabric as lonely quasars and nebulas hum their silly tunes
A mere man
A man amongst gods
Awed in a bed of stars
Giants
Spherical beauty envelopes you as you fall further through reality
Where space and time come to a halt
Where all is tranquil
All is even
Beautiful goddess
With arms outstretched
Pull
Grounded; the irresistible force beckoning you downwards
Fall
And fall
As the heat, searing, gives way
The remnants of the cosmos cast aside
Locked away as you stare at a sky of white
Blank
Bare
A slumber in a sea of stars
