The Beast Inside

By Alexis Garcia

How does one find the courage
To tame a beast
Of their own making?
Is it better to let it run wild
While we still have a say in the matter?
Face to face with raw truths
That we have buried so deep
Kept hidden in the hopes of
Believing that flaws can
Just be forgotten
And insecurities can be ignored
But everything demands to be seen
Acknowledged and tended to.
Love is the main thing we lack
In providing for ourselves
In a full capacity.
No one wants to think that there
May be a chance
Without the proper care,
A neglected beast is the one
That causes the most damage.
